- "The Standard in Sign Management Software"
- Maintaining a road sign inventory does not require 'Rocket Science' - just a software package from people who know how it's done. From tracking work orders to routine inspections, SignMaster is there for you. Using milepoints on a road and signs labeled with a unique numbered sticker, you can keep a current inventory with nothing more than a distance measuring instrument (DMI). Any sign and its history can be quickly recalled by sign number or route and milepoint.
- Brief History
- MasterMind started performing sign surveys in 1990. Since we could not find a software package that met our needs, we created our own... the very first Sign Management Software package. This software was mainly for our own sign survey customers. From that time, the software has evolved, aided by the needs and suggestions of our customers, into what we believe is the most comprehensive sign management system available.
- Easy to Use
- In order to successfully complete a sign inventory project, it is critical to quickly and accurately get your signs inventoried, inspected and entered into your system. SignMaster's Fast-add data entry screens are designed to aid you in this effort. SignMaster works with each sign having a unique sign number. Pre-designed dictionary lists are already populated with sign codes, sheeting types, support types, common sign sizes and blank materials saving you valuable time. Defaults, such as size, can be set-up for each sign code so each time you install a sign, many fields are filled in for you.

- Work Orders
- SignMaster is designed with a work order maintenance system built right in - not an add-on that you need to purchase separately. With the flexibility of SignMaster's work maintenance system, you can create work items, assign them to a work order for batch printing, or print them out individually. You can also create and complete work items after the actual work is finished. To log work for an installed sign, simply write down the sign number and what you did.
Once the work is complete for a sign, fill in the completion data and time and SignMaster's Work Order Wizard will guide you through the installation or replacement of the sign - automatically removing the old sign from the route inventory and replacing it with the new sign. SignMaster even asks you what you did with the old sign - trashed it, put it back in the warehouse for reuse, etc.
For other maintenance work, fill in the completion data and time and you're done. All work is filed away in history for easy recall any time you may need it.
- Retroreflectivity
- With FHWA minimum retroreflectivity standards coming soon, you can be ready. Store multiple retroreflectivity readings of your signs and the date each reading was taken. SignMaster also calculates the Contrast Ratio for you - which is necessary for stop signs. With the new reporting window, you can set filters to show every reading taken on a particular sign, all signs below Federal minimums, etc.
- Keep Your Warehouse Sign Inventory Organized
- Now you can keep an inventory of your signs in the warehouse. Along with normal sign information, you can record manufacturer, cost, date of fabrication, etc. Set a minimum amount of signs you want to keep in stock for each sign code and the 'Low Inventory Report' lets you know what signs you need to order. Inventory reports can also help you with your GASB-34 reporting requirements.
- Store GPS, XYZ Coordinate Info
- SignMaster can store GPS and XYZ coordinate information you have gathered for each sign in your agency. This information is stored with the sign's other location information and can be imported into your GIS system for mapping purposes.
- Export to Excel Spreadsheet
- For those who want to see their sign inventory in a different format, SignMaster 6 can export your inventory to a .XLS spreadsheet.
- Export to GIS Systems
- With transportation professionals increasingly relying on geographic information systems (GIS), you may need the ability to display your sign information in a GIS system. SignMaster uses .DBF data files to store information. These data files are natively compatible with leading GIS software systems available today. SignMaster is ready with a built-in export routine that builds a single .DBF table (out of the many tables that it uses) that is easily imported into most popular GIS software. Since GIS systems do not handle maintenance and history recording, use SignMaster for daily maintenance and then export the latest information when needed by your GIS department.
- Sign Inspections
- Our new Sign Inspection Wizard makes adding sign inspections a snap! After you have inspected the signs on a road, simply select that road, fill in the date, time and who performed the inspection, click OK and the Wizard does the rest. An inspection record will be created for each sign on that road. You can also batch select roads and create inspection records for multiple roads at once.

- Attach and view multiple photos of each sign in BMP, GIF or JPG format.

- Items NOT Found in SignMaster 6
- There are a few things you will see in other sign management programs that you will NOT find in SignMaster. You will not find VCR buttons to take you to the next sign, or last sign, in the table list. Why would you care to view your sign in the order they sit in the table. SignMaster presents your signs in route number (or route name) order by log point so you can visualize the signs in the order they appear as you roll down the road. Doesn't that make more sense?
You will NOT find a 'Sign Condition' field. The absolutely last thing you need in your sign inventory is a sign marked 'Poor' for every lawyer to see. This would pretty much seal any litigation case against your agency.
